MAHU Legislative Advocacy 101

REGISTRATION IS CLOSED

Michigan Association of Health Underwriters presents

Legislative Advocacy 101, a virtual presentation

Friday, January 15, 2021 – 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
NO CHARGE TO MAHU MEMBERS

Do you know what it takes to be an effective advocate? It can involve small tasks such as working closely with a legislator on the wording of a bill to larger campaigns such as mobilizing thousands of your stakeholders or supporters to contact the legislative body or governor about a specific issue.

Traditionally MAHU mostly engages in direct lobbying– which involves a series of steps that include reaching out to a legislator, communicating your views on an issue, and asking them directly to vote in a way that supports your interests. Meetings with elected officials when accompanied by a large group have proven to be effective and increase the likelihood of securing time with legislators.

Learn how to best leverage your experiences to be an effective advocate for MAHU.

Join our MAHU legislative leaders in an informative discussion on why our members need to be engaged and how to do so!
