Feb 26, 2020

By Ryan Burtka, MAHU Lobbyist

MAHU Legislative day is scheduled for May 19th, will re-evaluate topics of interest for advocacy in late April.  We are taking registration and urge our members to come to Lansing to support our issues.  You can register HERE.

The State House may be moving it’s Surprise Billing legislation soon, the House Ways and Means Chair, Brandt Iden, is taking amendments. SB 612 on Prior Authorization reform has had several meetings in the Senate, this will be amended before a committee vote which is likely in the near future.

Governor Whitmer released her proposed budget that includes increases for health care, roads and education. The Republican legislature is not thrilled with how the money was spent. The Governor also mentioned codifying parts of the ACA in her State of the State speech.  The Republican legislature will likely wait until the US Supreme Court makes a decision on the court case challenging the ACA.
