On Wednesday, May 20, Congressman Dan Kildee gave MAHU members an update on the federal government’s response to COVID-19. As a member of the powerful Ways and Means Committee, Congressman Kildee has been an important player in the multiple funding bills that Congress has passed to address the pandemic.
Currently, the HEROS Act (CARES IV) passed the U.S. House and he is hopeful that negotiations with Republicans in the U.S. Senate mean more aid for Michigan residents and local governments.
Additionally, he commented the the COVID-19 pandemic has not changed the narrative on single payer healthcare or Medicare for all in Congress.
Congressman Kildee is also hopeful that a bipartisan solution to Out of Network billing can be found once Congress returns to focus on policy issues. In particular, he mentioned that issue as being one where all parties agree it needs to be solved. If MAHU members have further questions that may reach out to his office at 202-225-3611.
